When a new employee is hired, a human resources department will typically be responsible for processing the employee into the business? system. This may mean processing any paperwork that the employee needs to fill out, or it may mean putting on an orientation presentation. In some cases, a human resources department will also be responsible for reviewing applications and checking with an applicant?s references before a hiring decision is made.

Policy Creation

Human resources departments also often have a hand in creating and distributing official company policy to employees. This may be done through an employee handbook, or it may be done using periodic email updates.
