In this week?s edition of Video Game Crafts ?N Gear, we?re kicking off the festive season with some awesome Mario-themed Christmas tree decorations, discover that Zelda accessories really do exist in real life and? what?s this? Waiter, there?s a companion cube in my drink! But that?s okay, I think I?ll keep it.
Super Mario Christmas Tree Lights
YouTube user oneupgreen has uploaded this video of his Super Mario Bros. Christmas tree lights. There?s a vast range of characters and items displayed here: from classic enemies such as Boo and Blooper to iconic power-ups such as the Mushroom and Starman. There?s even the new Penguin Suit! Now it all it needs is a copy of New Super Mario Bros. U wrapped up under the tree.
Wooden Hylian Shield
While you eventually ditch the weak, wooden starter shield in Zelda games, this is no Deku Shield!?Deviantart user clefrayearth used his father?s wood workshop to create a life-size replica of the Hylian Shield. He has also posted additional images showing different steps of the creation process.
While he could have simply created a flat shield and called it a day, clefrayearth?went so far as to give the shield a curved appearance, like in the games. He used a variety of tools and resources to make this replica, and the outcome is incredibly impressive.

Companion (Ice) Cubes
Readers of our first episode may remember the Portal gun replica from ThinkGeek. Known for their large variety of Portal merchandise, ThinkGeek wow us once again with a pretty unique and nifty product.
Not only do the Companion Cubes help you solve the intimidating puzzles of GlaDOS? test rooms, they now kindly help keep your beverage cool, both in terms of temperature and style. The detail on the cubes is fantastic, and it?s almost heart-breaking that they eventually dissolve away! You can grab yourself one of these ice trays for just under 10 dollars.
